Academic and Career Committee Recruitment

Hello everyone and welcome back to school! My name is Leo Zhang, your Academic Director for the coming school year. As you may know from its name, the Academic & Career Committee is committed to providing GK members with events and activities that have an academic or career focus. Topics may cover, for example, scholarship info session, graduate school info session, job hunting and networking workshop, resume and cover letter workshop, etc. There is a great opportunity for any GK member to show off and develop his or her event planning skills, networking skills, creativity, and at the same time, learn more about future career opportunities by working as a committee member. You are not required to know much about various academic tests and workshop information. As long as you are enthusiastic, interested in event planning, and willing to commit to the responsibilities, you are more than welcome to sign up to become a part of the A & C team. The mission of the Academic and Career Committee is to respond to general needs of members for events and activities specific to academia. Talented individuals with knowledge and resources in different fields are recruited to work closely together as a team to organize and implement ideas and member proposals. A couple of example events that the committee hosts are information sessions for graduate-school hopefuls and scholarship information sessions.

The Academic and Career Committee also extends itself to the Career Committee to collaborate on events relevant to both academic and post-graduate opportunities for members. By working with volunteer members and leaders of the UBC Golden Key Chapter, the committee hopes to provide each member with the knowledge and preparation adequate to meet the challenges and demands of today's competitive society.

As always, the committee seeks motivated, goal-orientated individuals with practical and innovative ideas to help bring all these into realities. Any suggestions, feed-backs, or comments pertaining to the goals/events of the Academic and Career Committee are welcome as well.
